Handa Island is a mini slice of paradise a short boat trip west of Scourie. Puffins, minke whales, bottlenose and Risso’s dolphins, grey seals and even the occasional orca or basking shark can be seen here. Cash required as cards not accepted. https://handa-ferry.com/

If you’ve driven to Beachview directly from Lairg or Ullapool you won’t have passed the “Wee mad road”. A spectacular peninsula West of Ardvreck Castle containing Achmelvich and Clachtoll beaches and the Old Man of Stoer attraction.
Sandwood Bay. Considered one of the best and unspoilt beaches in the UK, Sandwood Bay has over a mile of golden sand. Accessible, approximately 4 miles from the road, by foot and well worth the hike!
Oldshoremore Beach. One of our local beaches. Beautiful white sand and much more easily accessible than Sandwood.
Polin Beach. This is the beach seen directly from Beachview. Whilst just as beautiful as the others, it doesn’t grab the limelight of Sandwood and Oldshoremore so is much quieter. Think of it as your own private beach!

Northern lights or Aurora Borealis is the name given to the phenomenon where charged particles from the sun produce a green glow in the sky when they come into contact with the earth’s atmosphere. Best seen on a clear autumn or winter night, the superking bedroom, living room window or outside deck at Beachview provide perfect vantage points! There are quite a few websites and apps to guide you as to when the best time to look out for them are. https://www.auroramap.co.uk/ is one.
When Northern Lights aren’t present, the dark skies in Kinlochbervie are perfect for (shooting) star gazing and planet spotting.
In Scotland your messages are the practical bits and bobs you get from the shops on a daily or weekly basis.
Tesco Ullapool. This is as close to a supermarket as you’ll get! If you’re arriving from Ullapool this is the place to stock up before arrival.
The Durness Shop – A small Spar shop for essentials plus a 24/7 fuel station. Shop closed Sundays.
Kinlochbervie village – our local village has a small Spar shop for essentials at the harbour. There is also a post office in the village centre.
Inverness is the nearest city. Whilst 2 hours away it provides most of the major facilities of a small city.
Local
Kinlochbervie Hotel, Old school Restaurant and Rhiconich Hotel are local establishments only a few minutes drive away. They offer local dishes such as seafood and venison.

Durness – standard petrol and diesel 24hrs unattended pumps.
Lairg – standard petrol and diesel approx 6.30am – 8pm, 7 days a week.
Ullapool standard petrol and diesel and super unleaded. Open approx 8am – 8pm, 7 days a week. Closes earlier on Sundays.
Electric charging points are located in Durness, Scourie and Lairg.
